| An evening with Mensa at Rockstone's Office – The Concert | ||||
|
A show dubbed “An even with Mensa” saw the likes of Sena Dagadu, Percy Mutombo, Efya (Jane Awindor) and Wanlov The Kubolor mount the big stage to entertainment the large crowd which gathered at Rockstone’s Office, the hottest spot in Accra now. And of course Ghanacelebrities.com was there to grab the view in other to present it as it came. The large crowd had gathered behind the three LG LCD large screen to watch semi finals of the Carling Cup between the city rivals Manchester United and Manchester City. Wayne Rooney's header in the dying minutes of stoppage-time which sent Manchester United into the Carling Cup final and Manchester City packing home attracted a wild jubilation from the audience forgetting that the show had started three hours late. The MC for the night, Hiplife originator Reggie Rockstone welcomed the audience after the footie and then introduced Sena Dagadu as the first performer of the night. She in turn introduced her astounding 4 member band. Sena, a soul artiste performed eight of her songs and after each performance she reminded the audience if they want ‘asokpo’ (hot) then they should wait for the other artistes, apparently, (referring to Mensa, Efya and Wanlov the Kuborlor) which attracted laughter from the crowd. Then came poetic Percy Mutombo, who recited two poems with assistance from the organist. His first poem titled ‘Jesus Is Black’. The second one was a poem he wrote several years back for Reggie Rockstone, which was done in a rap style. Reggie Rockstone then introduced the man of the evening ‘Mensa’ to kill off the evening. Mensa performed several songs on his new album ‘Small Mangoes’ and some of his old favorites. He kicked off with ‘Anaa’ moved on to ‘Number One Mango Street’ to ‘Kelewele Pinpin’ to ‘Fante Love Song’. For all this while, the audience had full participation, they sung the choruses with the man of the evening. Efya (Jane Awindor) joined Mensa on stage to perform ‘We Go Rock’, after which they performed another song ‘Nothing’, a track on her album. Those two looked like some love birds on stage. Efya retired from the stage after the performance and there came Wanlov the Kuborlor, Mensa’s partner in crime. A young lady was invited from the crowd, as she became the theme of the song ‘No Me’. Mensa ended the beautiful night with a performance of ‘Adjuma’ the hit track on his new album ‘Small Mangoes’. Mensa’s new album and T’ Shirts were on sale. He signed some autograph also. If you havnt had a taste of Mensa and Kubolor’s concert before, then you havnt seen “a concert” yet in your life. |
