Okyeame Kwame: Jouney Behind the Mic
Written by Administrator    Thursday, 28 January 2010 00:00    PDF Print E-mail
Okyeame kwameThe critically acclaimed ‘RAP DOCTOR” had a booming 2009. His rare achievements coupled with a huge controversy with one of Hiplifes’s longest hand (Obrafour) is what engulfs the totality of the year 2009 for the “FAVORITE RAPPER’S FAVORITE RAPPER”.

One such controversy which escaped media upheaval by a thin thread was his love song “ANAA” with Morris D’Voice. The escape from media mayhem did not deter critics from descending on the “Doctor of Music”. This has led the Award Winning recording artiste’s record label ONE MIC ENTERTAINMENT to make a press release answering all the questions the critics have raised. Attached is a sample of the press release.

• What is the meaning of RAP?

• RAP is the acronym for Rhythmic African Poetry. In simple terms, its poetry in motion. Poetry being recited in rhythm. Another school of thought explains that rap is a clip version of rhapsody which is explained by Greek philosophers like Aristotle and Plato as appellations. In an African sense, it can be traced to court poetry. An example is the drum language (Ayan and Amoma). In short, the rapper is the chief drummer communicating over the background drum sets. Picture an ensemble of drummers at a function with a lead drummer. The lead drummer is the rapper while the background drummers are the beat used by the rapper.

Permit me to call him the mystery man. His achievements have got me wondering and thinking a lot especially after the release of his rock pop album “THIS WHO I AM”. In My Head” was an instant success from day one and is the favorite of a lot of music lovers around the world.

As usual every great hit has to be complemented with an astonishing video and lovers of the British-aura; back-laden, ace presenter couldn’t just wait.
